Build-a-Roo-Leadership 2010 Swap

This was my Leadership swap this year. It uses the stamp set Build-a-Roo. I had fun water coloring all the roo's and the flowers. The Roo was stamped onto Watercolor paper and then I colored them in using Stampin' Write markers and my Aqua painter pen.

The tiny sentiment is from Tiny Tags and I used the Medium Jewelry Tag to punch it out. I used a piece of Linen Thread to tie it to the Chocolate Chip ribbon.

The main image was mounted onto a piece of Very Vanilla card stock and then onto Vellum card stock that I sent through my Big Shot with the Texture Plate #4 (Daisies). I then mounted that onto a piece of Apricot Appeal card stock, sewed them together and then put it onto the Chocolate Chip card base.

Thanks Simple Circus - CCCCAct 11

Stacey has another great color combo this week for her Curtain Call Color Challenge Act 11. The colors are Old Olive, Going Gray, Whisper White and Always Artichoke. These colors are so fun to work with! Go check out her blog and try this weeks challenge!







Here is the card I came up with. Pretty straight forward. I used the Circle Circus Stamp set and this weeks colors to make my own DSP. The sentiment is from the stamp set Thank you Kindly.

You can not see it in the picture, but after I stamped the circles, I ran it through the Big shot with the Pattern #2 Texture Plate. This give the card a little more texture and dimension!

Perfect Celery Blossoms

Tonight is the Splitcoast Stampers dinner at convention and there is an organized swap that I am participating in. I will swap 50 cards and then get 50 back.....I am excited to see what I get!

Here is the card I made. The colors are Perfect Plum, Chocolate Chip, Certainly Celery and Very Vanilla. This card was made the same way that this card was that I posted last week.

Totally Thanks

Here is a quick card I made for some thank yous from my husband. The card size is 4 1/4" x 4 1/4".

I sent the Brushed Silver card stock through the Big Shot with the Harlequin embossing pad to give it the diamond plated look to give it more of a guys feel. I then stamped the tape measure from Totally Tools on the circle and then matted it with the black circle. I added the sentiment by stamping it on card stock and then cut it apart and placing it where I wanted it next to the tape.

Fly Fishing Thanks

Here is a Fly Fishing thank you card I made for my husband to give. It uses the retired stamp set Fly Fishing. I bought it off Ebay awhile ago. I keep my eye out for fly fishing sets, because my husband fly fishes and so does his dad.



I was looking for ideas with this stamp set and saw a card made by snap_scrap_stamp over at splitcoast, so I CASED it. I used Kraft, Basic Black, Not Quite Navy and Very Vanilla card stock. I water colored the image using my Aqua Painter. I added a simple stitch (it is not perfect, but I think it fits the card that way) all the way around the image to finish it off.

March Club

It's time for March Club already! This month I had a guest demonstrator (my sister) prepare and demonstrate one of the cards that everyone made, you will see it down further on this post!

The first card we made is this Crimped Envelope Pocket Card that uses the Sale-A-Bration stamp set Polka Dot Punches and the Sale-A-Bration Ribbon Bundle So Saffron ribbon. (You can find the tutorial on how to make a Crimped Envelope Pocket card on Splitcoaststampers by clicking here). The colors on this card are Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue, So Saffron and Whisper White.

This stamp set coordinates perfectly with the Scallop Circle and 5-Petal Flower punches, so I used them to punch out the embellishments on the bottom right of the card. I also used the 3/4" circle punch and the Circle Scissor Plus to get the other circles on the card. I added a small Whisper White button, from the Button Latte Designer Buttons pack, and a small piece of Whisper White ribbon to finish off the outside of the card. When you take the top off the card, this is what is inside. I used the Scallop edge punch on the Certainly Celery card stock to give it some character.



The next card uses the Inspired by Nature stamp set that is on the Dormant List. The flower looks like it was water colored onto the paper and I did this by coloring directly on the stamp with the appropriate markers (Summer Sun, Old Olive and Pink Passion), "huffing" the stamp, stamping it onto the Water Color paper and then Aqua painting the stamped image on the paper to make it blend better. I framed it with Basic Black card stock and adhered it to the rest of the card.


The Kraft card stock was run through the Big Shot with the Stampin' Up! Backgrounds 1 texturz plate and then I added three black brads at the bottom of the card to finish it off.

The last card we made was the one my sister prepared. It uses the Trendy Tree's Stamp set, 5/8" Grosgrain Regal Rose ribbon, Chocolate Chip, Regal Rose, Old Olive and Whisper White card stock, a Clear Transparency sheet and the Photo Corners punch.

This second picture shows that she put the Clear Transparency sheet over the Whisper Whit card stock that she stamped the Trendy Tree's on. This is such a cute stamp set and it has so much potential!

Wonderful Thanks

The other materials I used for this card are DSP is from the Manchester paper pack, a clip from the Clips Assortment, some 1/4" Grosgrain ribbon, Kraft, Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla card stock and Chocolate Chip and Sahara Sand ink.

kwerner design Color Inspiration #43

I saw Kristina's color inspiration this week and really liked the colors so I thought I would give it a try!

I just received the new Stampin' Up! Simple Flower embosslits die that I ordered and thought I would play with it. It is so neat, you get a deeply embossed image in a cute shape without cutting anything by hand!

So here is that card I made using all of the colors for this week (Chocolate Chip, Ruby Red, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive and Brocade Blue). Very simple and quick card, but still cute! The Thank You stamp is from the Thank You Kindly stamp set from SU! and the ribbon is the 1/4" grosgrain in Chocolate Chip.






Here is a close up of the card so you can see the embossing a little better!

Fabric Challenge Card

Hello! Today over at Splitcoast the Way's to Use it challenge (WT205) was to use fabric on your card . My card was not a really thought out card, I just started and went with it adding as I went! (very different card for me!)

I started with the fabric squares of the three different pink's. I decided to sew them together into a "blanket". I then decided that Chocolate Chip card stock would be a great background for it, so I sewed the "blanket" on to the card stock. Then I realized it needed a bit more of a background and that is when I added the square white card base background. I then stamped the "Thank you so much" stamp in the lower right hand corner and called it done! Very simple, but it fits the challenge and that is what I started out to do!

Here is a close up of the "blanket". As you can see I left all the fabric frays on the card and didn't clean it up too much...I think it just makes the card that much more interesting!

January Club

This is will be our last club before the new catalog comes out next week. I am excited for the new catalog, because it always brings new and exciting things!

Since Valentines Day is just a month away, I thought we should do a few Valentines Day-ish things. Our first project is this cute little Valentines bag. It is made using the Big Shot Top Note Die and a small paper bag (for the inside of the bag). The handle is punched out using the large oval punch and the embellishment is made using the 1 1/4", 1 3/8" and Scallop circle punches. The heart stamp and the DSP is from the level 3 hostess set Holiday Happening Bundle in the current catalog. The ribbon is the 1 1/4" Grosgrain in Pink Pirouette. I made the bag's filling by cutting real thin strips of Real Red card stock and then crumpling them in my hands.

The second project is this 3"x3" Valentine. It uses A Happy Heart stamp set from the Holiday Mini catalog (which goes away January 18, so if you like it order it now!) The color scheme for this card is Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette and Whisper White. We used the Stampin' Write markers to ink the stamp to get the flower to be different color than the stem. The DSP is from the Bella Rose paper pack and the ribbon is the Riding Hood Red Taffeta.
This second picture shows the paper piercing around the edge of the Pink Pirouette DSP and that the flower is made from small little hearts.





Our third project is this no stamping required card! It is made using the Big Shot and a few dies! I was having a hard time coming up with Valentines day cards to make (mainly because I don't have many heart-y, love-y stamps) and I was thinking X's and O's are Valentines Day things and I could cut them out using my Serif Essentials dies and my Big Shot, so I did! And then I thought a cute little white bird may look good, so I cut him out using the Birds And Blooms Sizzlits die and and then glued it all together! It is kind of a different card for me, but I think I like the way it turned out, very simple and quick!


Our fourth and final card for club this month is this Sock Monkey "thanks a bunch" card. The colors in this card are Whisper White, Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel, Chocolate Chip, So Saffron and Ruby Red (for his mouth and butt). I stamped the Sock Monkey in Basic Black and then colored him in using the markers. I then stamped the banana on a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock using Basic Black ink, colored the banana peel using the So Saffron marker and then cut the banana out and glued it to the monkeys hand. I had to add some ribbon (of course it had to to Chocolate Chip) to finish off the card!

Elegant Embossed Fresh Cuts

I think black and white look very elegant together, so that is why I used that color combination for this card.

It is hard to tell in this picture, but the main card is Very Vanilla card stock. I embossed the vine stamp from the Fresh Cuts stamp set on the Very Vanilla with White embossing powder from top to bottom a little off center of the whole card. I layered Basic Black and Whisper White card stock together and then stamped the main image in Basic Black classic ink. I finished off the card by adding some Black Organdy ribbon and stamping the greeting in the bottom corner.

Layered Upsy's

Happy Thanksgiving (yesterday)!!!

Here is another simple card that could be for any occasion if you were to change the greeting.

The colors in the card are Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White and So Saffron. I first stamped the Upsy Daisy stamp in the So Saffron ink and stamped it on the Whisper White (you need to re-ink and stamp your flowers twice in order to get the flowers to go all the way across the card stock) and then stamped the Pumpkin Pie flowers and then the Chocolate Chips ones last. I did sponge around the edges with Chocolate Chip in to give it more of a softer look. I used one of the mini clips in the SU Clips Assortment embellishment pack to tie a few pieces of coordinating ribbon on to and then clipped it to the bottom of the card to finish it off.
