It's June 1st and that means Stampin' Celebration Inspiration Challenge has a new challenge for you!  Here is what I made using the colors and the masculine theme from this months inspiration pictures:

It is a simple Fathers day card using the Tool Shed stamp set in MDS!  This was an easy card to make and I think it is cute..or I mean masculine. :)  The tools were perfect to put together to make the "dad".

Meeting Papa- MDS

My daughter is going to be one in less than 2 weeks....(WHAT???), so I am trying to get all her first year pages done for the scrapbook I am making....here is the latest page I made:

I CASED Erica's layout here and changed them theme to fit the pictures of my Grandpa meeting my daughter for the first time.  I went with the more masculine colors scheme and used the Hexagon punch filled with DSP from the Well Worn kit and added a frame from the Downtown Grunge kit and a few Mis-Stitches.  I also added a few overlays over the background paper to give it more of a textured look.

I am happy with the way the page turned out!

Tiny Fan- My Digital Studio Blog Hop

Welcome to week 7 of the MDS blog hop!  This week's theme is Fall!  You may look at my page and say "it that really a fall themed page?" and I say yes, because football is always a sign that we are in the fall season. :)  This page features my cousins kid Alex at only 8 days old and already a tiny Denver Bronco's fan!

I used various DSP's in Pumpkin Pie, Night of Navy and Whisper White to create the background.  I love making backgrounds using the DSP in this way!  It is kind of like making your own DSP in the colors you want.  I added a few stitching elements a a few buttons, my title and journaling and and the page was done!

So Bear-y Cute- My Digital Studio Blog Hop

Welcome to week 5 of the MDS blog hop!  This week it was my turn to pick a theme for the week and I picked a nature (doing something outside) theme using at least two pictures.  I used my cousins cute boy, Alex, again on my page.  This time he is sitting outside in the grass.  

When I started this page I had a cute idea in my head and then when it got designed in person, it didn't go as planned....I am not sure about this page, it feels like it is missing a thing or two?

I made my own strips of DSP using the Fury Folks stamp set and the opacity tool to go with the cute bear shirt he is wearing.

Non-Winning Artisan Award- Every Moment Card

Here is the last card I made for Artisan Award this year. I really like the way it came out! (Click on the card to see it bigger!)

I used a few different textures and elements on this card including an embossing folder, sponging, linen thread, vellum card stock, brads, water color paper and dimensionals to give it the finished look.

Here is a close up picture of the stamped image. You can not tell what I did to image from looking at this picture, so I will tell you! I first stamped the image on to Vellum card stock using Black SatzOn ink. Then I flipped the vellum over and colored in the image using classic ink and blender pens, let it dry and then flipped it back over and mounted it onto a piece of water color paper.

Here you can see some of the texture, sponging and dimension of the card.

I like the masculine-earthy feel of this card. It was fun to create because this card just kind of came together as I made it and added each element.

Sailing Adventure- CCMC-SUM01

WOW...has it been an amazing first week over at the Create with Connie and Mary Summer Edition site! We have had lots of fun and unique project's (all with full picture tutorials) shared and this is only the first week! So here is my card for the Saturday challenge. This week we have a color challenge of using Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler, Basic Grey and Not Quite Navy.

More about my card...I used the Sail Away stamp set from in the Summer Mini and then of course the colors from this week. The stamp is so fun to watercolor! I also used the Travel Log stamp set for the "adventure" sentiment that I thought went well with the image.

I added a few Jumbo Eyelets to tie in the sailing/nautical theme. I also added a border of 1/4" Early Espresso Grosgrain ribbon around the Not Quite Navy card stock. If you look closely you can see it in this picture. I think that it helped with the sailing/nautical theme too.

Lovely Dad Tree- SCIC51

It's Thursday and that means time for another Stampin' Celebration Inspiration Challenge! This week we have some masculine-ish colors for you to be inspired by!

We would love to have you join us! All you need to do it look at the inspiration picture, make something that the picture inspired you to make and then upload if to the Stampin' Celebration blog!

This week I focused on the colors from the inspiration picture for my card. I used Soft Suede, Old Olive and Marina Mist as the main colors and added a little Basic Grey for good measure!

I used the Lovely as a Tree stamp set for the main image and stamped it onto water color paper and then colored it using Stampin' Write Markers.

I also did a little masking on the main image to get the dirty edges to make the tree stand out a bit better.

I added a little bit of Basic Grey satin ribbon and a few strands of Linen Thread for some added texture.

I was searching for a picture to use and this one just jumped out at me because it has just the perfect colors in it to coordinate with this week's colourQ colors! (I mean look at the grass in the picture... it is Kiwi Kiss and Pear Pizzazz! :) ) These are pictures of my husband, Jon, fly fishing on a lake near Telluride, CO a few summers ago.

I had fun putting this page together, simple and to the point! I think I am addicted to the Whisper White Patterns DSP digital downloads, they just look good on any page I am putting together!

This is a picture of my husband at the Ace Hardware Paint Plant tour in Matteson, IL. Did you know Ace Hardware makes their own paint? (and a very good paint at that? :) ) We had the opportunity to tour it while we were attending the Ace Hardware convention in Chicago a few weeks ago. It was very interesting getting to tour the plant and see how it is all done!

This week we have some rich colors to work with. I was having a tough time with the colors until I thought of this idea! I think it worked out great!

Onesies for Trace- SCIC47

Yesterday was Thursday and that means time for another Stampin' Celebration Inspiration Challenge! This week we are celebrating cute little animals, strips and polka-dots! We hope you are inspired to make something and share it with us over at the Stampin' Celebration blog!

This week's inspiration pictures were perfect for me as I needed to make a welcome baby gift for a friend that had a baby boy recently!

Here is what I came up with a bag with a few personalized onesies for him to wear all tired up with a cute giraffe tag! I had so much fun making the tag and the onesies!

Here is a picture of the onesies I made. The first one has his name that I die cut using the Big Shot and the iron on adhesive and then just ironed it on the back of the onesie. The second one I made a tie (figured it was appropriate since he is the only boy with two older sisters!) on the front of the onesie. I made the tie by using a template I drew my hand and then again used the iron on adhesive to attach it to the onesie.

Here is a close up of the So Saffron punch art giraffe I made for the tag. I used various Stampin' Up! punches to make him (Hint...the head is the Owl Punch!). I made a tree for him to nibble on using the two step bird punch and a few hearts in Pear Pizzazz and then mounted it all onto a piece of Baja Breeze card stock that I sponged clouds onto.

I really had a great time making this entire project and I hope Mom and the new baby enjoy it!

For this week's sketch I decided to flip it on its side. And here is what I came up with.

I used the Nature Walk stamp set and the Botanical Gazette DSP. I stamped the branch onto water color paper using Black StazOn and then perched the bird on top the branch. I colored them in useing my blender pens and classic inks (Marina Mist, Old Olive and Cherry Cobbler).

I mounted the main image on to a few pieces of the DSP and added a piece of Early Espresso Taffeta Ribbon. The card base is Early Espresso. The sentiment is from the Bring on the Cake stamp set.

Engraved Masculine

Everyone needs masculine cards at some point..right? And they are always hard to come up with. Here are a few simple masculine-ish cards that would be great for any man.

I made them using the Engraved Greeting's stamp set. The colors I used were Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla and Early Espresso. I used all the same pieces on each card, but I just arranged them differently.

Foliage Birthday- CCMC-HM2

It's Week 2 over at the Create with Connie and Mary Holiday Edition! So this week we have a great color challenge to go with the stamp sets we have been focusing on, Day of Gratitude and French Foliage. The colors are Cajun Craze, Old Olive, More Mustard and Early Espresso. Perfect colors for fall!

Here is what I came up with! I used the French Foliage stamp set with a few other accessories to make this masculine-ish birthday card!

I Stamped the leafs onto the card stock colors for this week using the Early Espresso classic ink, then cut them out and crumpled them up to give them texture. Then I mounted them onto the punched out 2 1/2" Circle that was stamped and dirtied up with the Early Espresso classic ink. Then I wrapped the image in Hemp Twine.

I gave a piece of Early Espresso texture by sending it through the Big Shot with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, punched a dirtied piece of card stock using the Eyelet Border punch, stamped the sentiment from Sincere Salutations, added a few brads and mounted it all on the Early Espresso card base.

Dad's Brand New Yellow Four-Wheeler

Here is the birthday card I made for my Dad! My Mom and Dad have just gotten a new four-wheeler and it is yellow, so that is where my inspiration came from for this card!

The Woodgrain background stamp was stamped on to Sahara Sand card stock using Early Espresso ink. Then I cut it in to four equal chunks and sponged all the edges and put them on to the chocolate Chip card base.

I stamped the four-wheeler from the set Loads of Fun on to Water Color Paper in Black StazOn ink, colored it in using markers and my Aqua Painter Pen and then used the making technique to stamp the trees behind it in Always Artichoke classic ink and then blended them in a bit using my Aqua Painter Pen. I added a little Crystal Effects to the four-wheeler so it would shine.....remember....it is brand new! :)

Then I used the new 2 1/2" Circle punch from the Holiday Mini Catalog to punch put the four-wheeler and then popped it off the card using dimensionals. The sentiment is from the Fundamental Phrases stamp set.

Basic "hi"- Artisan Award Submissions 2010

A Trio of Masculinity- SCIC07

It's week seven at the Stampin' Celebration blog and this week we are celebrating fathers! The inspiration photo is a perfect place to get plenty of inspiration for any kind of masculine card. Make sure to check out the other design team members projects on the Stampin' Celebration blog!

Here is what I came up with, a trio of masculine cards using a few of the embossing folders! The colors I used were Whisper White, Night of Navy and Crushed Curry. I kept these masculine cards very simple, I think that is what make a masculine card a masculine card!

The embossing folders I used were Vintage Wallpaper (sneak-peak from the new catalog!!!!!), Square Lattice and Perfect Polka Dots. I tied a piece of Crushed Curry ribbon around each of the embossed pieces of card stocks and then mounted them onto Crushed Curry card stock and then onto the Whisper White card base. I added a tag punch that had been stamped using the Tiny Tags stamp set.

Tied up Presents- CCCCact18

It's time for another color challenge from Stacey's Curtain Call Color Challenge. This week she was inspired by this trivet. The colors are Night of Navy, Old Olive, Whisper White, Kraft and Ballet Blue. I realized, after working with these colors, it is hard for me to use blues on a card.



Here is my card this week. It is very
CAS. Not much to explain here. The stamp set I used on this card is from the Sale-A-Bration catalog and it is called Happy Moments. I stamped it onto watercolor paper using Black Staz On and then colored it using classic ink pads and blender pens. The stack of presents and the sentiment are separate, I just stamped them close to each other on the card.



I tied a piece of Linen Thread around the stack of presents (Stacey did this a few weeks ago on a card and I loved it, so I had to CASE it) to finish the card off.

Totally Thanks

Here is a quick card I made for some thank yous from my husband. The card size is 4 1/4" x 4 1/4".

I sent the Brushed Silver card stock through the Big Shot with the Harlequin embossing pad to give it the diamond plated look to give it more of a guys feel. I then stamped the tape measure from Totally Tools on the circle and then matted it with the black circle. I added the sentiment by stamping it on card stock and then cut it apart and placing it where I wanted it next to the tape.
