Love You Birds- CCCCAct 10

Stacey is back with her Curtain Call Color Challenges! This week, Act 10, she has picked this photo with the Stampin' Up! colors as Pretty in Pink, Pink Passion, Real Red, Crushed Curry and Whisper White. These colors automatically said Valentines day to me, and since it is just around the corner, that is what I made.

My card measures 3x3", so it is a small Valentines card. The image comes from the stamp set called Love you Much and the "love" and "you" comes from the Fundamental Phrases stamp set.

I stamped the image on Water color paper in Real Red Classic ink and then highlighted the red bird with a Real Red Marker and the pink bird with Pretty in Pink and Pink Passion markers. I then took my Aqua Painter Pen and blended the colors together.

It may be hard to see where my Crushed Curry is in the card, so that is why I took a close up of the birds beaks! (I really have not fallen in love with Crushed Curry...it is an awkward color for me to use.)

You may see some thing on this card (the cute little tag punch and that Very Vanilla Satin ribbon) that you have never seen before, that is because both of them are in the new Occasions Mini Catalog which starts January 5! If you want to take a look at it, I have a link to it on my side bar to the right!! I can already tell that the Medium Jewelry Tag punch is going to be so useful in so many ways!

Simple Fun Fishy Birthday- JCI41 and CAS19

Stacey has another great Jewelry Color Inspiration this week. The colors are Brilliant Blue, Tempting Turquoise, Tangerine Tango, Summer Sun and Whisper White. These are such fun and bright colors to work with, go check out Stacey's blog and give it a try!
I saw the CAS19 (Clean and Simple #19) challenge over at Splitcoast, to make a card based on tashers card here, and decided to combine the two challenges into one card.

Here is what I came up with, A simple fun fishy birthday card! The card measures 4 1/4" X 4 1/4". The fish are from a stamp set in the Occasions Mini Catalog, that will be going away on June 30, called Just Beachy. The birthday hat is from the stamp set Crab and Company. The sentiment is from the set called All Holiday.

I colored the fish in using my Aqua painter. What a fun and quick card to make!

Choo Choo Train- Jewelry Color Inspiration #39

Stacey has some fun colors this week for her Jewelry Color Inspiration #39. They are Basic Black, Ridding Hood Red, Taken With teal, Pumpkin Pie and Whisper White. I saw these colors and thought "fun kid card" (I guess bright colors say kid to me!) and I have been wanting to use the Choo Choo stamp set in the Occasions Mini, so that is what I made and used.

Here is my card. This card went thought a few designs, before I came up with this one, but I think it turned out good. I stamped the train cars in the colors and then mounted them onto the Basic Black squares. The sentiment is from the Birthday Wish stamp set in the catalog under the under $10 section in the very back.



The background is the retired Canvas background stamped in Basic Black ink onto Whisper White card stock. The three little black circles are just circles punched out from a hole punch and glued on.

Plum Tulips on Gray Panels

I have missed the past two weeks of Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenges, because I was out of town and then I had to catch up!

So here is the Sweet Sunday Sketch 15. I need a little color inspiration, so I checked out Stacey's Stamping Stage and saw her Jewelry Color Inspiration 34 and liked the colors a lot, so I thought I would put the two challenges together!











And here is what I came up with! Some perfect Plum Tulips on a Going Gray paneled background.

The DSP is from the Urban Oasis paper pack, I punched the tulips using the Key tag punch and then cut the tops into them using scissors, the sentiment is from the Great Friend stamp set in the Occasions Mini and the ribbon I dyed gray!

I used my White Gel pen to add the dots around the edge of the tulips to make them stand out a little bit more.

I had fun with this one! I needed to make a spring-y flower-y card, since it was snowing on and off today...

April $5 Friday- Cameo Crazy

Do you recognize this card? If you looked at my blog a few days ago, you should! I made a very very similar card to this one and liked it so much, I decided to do it for $5 Friday this month.

You know when you make a card the first time and then go to make it again, you tweak it, well, that is what happened to this one! I changed the card size to 51/2" X 41/4", changed the leaf color, stamped a different sentiment, added different ribbon and added some more paper piercing.

To get this custom "Basic Gray" ribbon, I dyed white ribbon and it came out perfectly! I haven't done very much dying, but the few times I have dine it, I have been very satisfied!

(All you do to dye ribbon is add a little water to a small plastic container, I used an old embellishment container from SU!, and then add drops of classic re-inker to the water until the mixture is a bit darker than you want the finished product to be and then dip your ribbon in and pat it dry with a paper towel and then speed up the drying process with a hair dryer!)



The second card we made this month is this Cameo Coral Birthday card.

The white daisy and the pearl center is from the Pretties Kit. The DSP is from the Raspberry Tart paper kit and I layered some Velum Card Stock over it to lighten it up a bit. I stamped the birthday sentiment from On Your Birthday on the Velum using Black Staz-On.

The Whisper White card stock on the bottom is embossed using the Big Shot and the Large dots texture plate (it's hard to see in the picture).

(I haven't used the big daisy from the Pretties kit very much, because I always find that it is "floppy". So I was thinking what I could do to it to make it not so "floppy" and I thought if aerosol hair spray! So I sprayed the daisy and then hit it with the hair dryer a minute and it seemed to help! I was also just thinking, I wonder if you could use starch as well...ummm...I will have to try that next time!)

April Club

This month for club we did a few Easter cards. I think every one liked them.

The first card we did was this cute punched bunny. I have seen many of these bunnies on Splitcoast, and decided to make one myself. I added the weaved background (basket) and the grass to give him something to sit by and on. The "happy" is from the Happy Everything stamp set and the "easter" is from the retired hostess level 2 set called Occasions Collection.



The second card we made was also an Easter card. This is called a hinged card, because it opens on a hinge.

All of the stamped images are from the Wagon Full of Fun stamp set in the Occasions Mini catalog. The colors are Old Olive, Rose Red and So Saffron. This card measures 41/4" X 41/4", so it fits into a standard envelope.

The "happy easter" sentiment is from the retired hostess level 2 set Occasions Collection. This was a fun and pretty quick card to make.









The last card we made was this one using the Branch Out stamp set. I CASE'd this card pretty much all the way from geobeck on Splitcoast. I saw it and loved it! I did change the DSP. I used the Sweet Slumber Specialty which has a wonderful texture to it. The ribbon is the Satin Baja Breeze from the Valet Ribbon Originals. The colors are Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze, Whisper White and Kiwi Kiss.

sweet sunday sketch challenge #12- Basic Cameo Butterfly

Here is Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #12. I thought this sketch would be easier than it was, but I guess that is why it is called a "challenge"! I changed colors and stamp sets a few times on this card, but I like my end result!






Here is my card! It uses some new products from the Occasions Mini Catalog that started April 1 and runs through June. The DSP is from the Walk in the Park paper pack in the Occasion Mini, the die cuts were made using the Big Shot and the "happiness" stamp is from the Warm Words stamp set. The Baja Breeze satin ribbon is from the Valet Ribbon Originals.



I was inspired by kellysue over at Splitcoaststampers to make this card. The colors are Basic Gray, Whisper White, Baja Breeze and Cameo Coral.

sweet raspberry challenge- Board Fish

This week I decided to combine two challenges into one, Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #11 and Dawn's Raspberry Suite Week 2 Color Challenge (brown, teal, white and celery).





Here is what I came up with. I am not sure if I like it all that much, it looks a little off, but I decided to upload it anyways. I used the new Just Beachy stamp set that is in the Occasions Mini Catalog for the image. The Chocolate Chip card stock base is embossed with the Big Shot and the small Dots die. I used the Scallop Edge punch for the scallop of Taken with Teal paper and the ribbon is from the Sale-A-Bration ribbon pack.


I thought the surf board on top of the car needed a little something else, so I added a fish! I put Crystal Effects on him, so he would look like he was wet and I also put a dripping trail of water flying off of him towards the back of the car...it is hard to see in the picture.

sweet sunday sketch challenge #10- Spring Duck

Here is Karen's sweet sunday sketch challenge for this week. I always have so much fun with her sketches! Go check out her blog for yourself! These color also match Dawn's Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #1, . (I didn't even know it untill after I had posted!)





Here is what I came up with this week. It is a Spring Duck! Isn't this Duck so cute? It is from the Wagon Full of Fun stamp set that is in the Occasions Mini catalog. I also used my new Eyelet Border punch. I think this punch will be a good addition to my punches.


The colors in this card (Summer Sun, Pumpkin Pie, Regal Rose, Basic Black) are not normal colors for me, but they just kind of fell into place as I was making the card and I like the way it came out...very bright and spring-y!










I had fun water coloring the duck on the water color paper. I really like water coloring on the water color paper, because it is so forgiving and you can blend your colors so much better than on normal card stock.
