A Box and an Ornament- SCIC61- Mid Month

It's mid month, and that means there is still time to join us over at the Stampin' Celebration site for this months inspiration challenge!  And I have a little mid-monthsperation for you!  Here is what I made:

A box made out of one sheet of 12x12 card stock!  And....

 And ornament to go inside of it!























I used the Naturals Composition Specialty DSP to make the box and gave it a clear lid so you could peek at the glittery rosette style ornament that is inside.  I used Sahara Sand card stock for the ornament and added some Champagne Glass glitter, a large button and some linen thread to finish it off.

Merry and Bright MDS Christmas Card- My Digital Studio Blog Hop

Welcome to the My Digital Studio Blog Hop!  For the next few weeks our theme is going to be general "Holiday" so you can see what we have been working on for the up coming Holidays!

Here is our Christmas card this year.  I CASED it from Connie Collins.  I loved the simple and crisp look of the card.  It uses the Christmas Jingle DSP and embellishments.  I did change the sentiment just a teeny tiny bit...I changed the font of "merry & bright" to match the font I used on the inside of the card.   

Here is the inside of the card.  I embellished the bottom of the card to match the front and gave the entire (including the top of the card when you open it and the back of the card) a small soft polka-dot background.  I typed my own sentiment using the font My Own Topher and added our signatures in the Digs My Heart font.

I was really pleased when I received them in the mail from the print services from Stampin' Up!

Full Bow Christmas Postcard- MDS Blog Hop

Welcome to the My Digital Studio Blog Hop!  For the next few weeks our theme is going to be general "Holiday" so you can see what we have been working on for the up coming Holidays!

Here is a card I CASED 98% from Julie Warnick (thanks Julie!!)  I just loved the way it looked and how it fit the feeling of the family picture one of my friends gave me to make their Christmas cards with.  I Made a few different sample cards for her and this is the one she liked the best!

The postcard is 5x7 and uses the Presto Patterns stamp set to make the background.  The bow was made using three Seam Binding ribbon bows rotated on top of each other to achieve the full bow shape and then an Antique Brad was added to the middle.

 

Here is the back of the postcard.  I always decorate the back of the postcards....nothing ever too crazy or complicated, just enough to finish it off.

From Our House to Yours...

Merry Christmas!

Rudolph, Front and Center- SCIC32

It's Thursday and time for another Stampin' Celebration Inspiration Challenge! This challenge will be up for TWO WEEKS!! That is a lot if time to create something and share it with us! We have traditional Christmas Colors to work with in these fun inspirational pictures.

I decided to use a stamp set I just got, Holiday Lineup. I have been wanting to get it for a while, but never did, until this year, I broke down and got it!

Here is what I came up with, very simple, but to the point. I stamped the reindeer onto watercolor paper using StazOn ink and then used the blender pens and classic inks to color with. Those cute little reindeer are so fun to watercolor, even though on this card I only did one in detail and washed the others with Crumb Cake ink.

Here is a close up of the reindeer and the sentiment. You can see I added googly eyes to Rudolph and then crystal effects to his nose to make it shine! I stamped the sentiment on the Crumb Cake card base and then used a blender pen to trace the letters to give them a softer glowy-er look. I think it added a nice touch to the card.

Again you have TWO WEEKS (until the 28th) to create something that was inspired by the inspiration pictures above!

Ok on with this week's Saturday Challenge! This week we have been creating using A Cute Christmas, Merry Crittermas, the Builder Wheels, Candy Cane Rub-Ons and the Decor Elements. The challenge for this week is a color challenge using Garden Green, Baja Breeze, Blushing Bride and Real Red. I decided to use the A Cute Christmas stamp set for my card.

Here is what I came up with! I had fun wrapping up all the presents on my card and even un-wrapping one of them! :) I used the Candy Cane Christmas Designer Series Fabric on my card as well as the stamp set, because I couldn't not resist using it, it matching the A Cute Christmas set perfectly!

I made my presents by cutting appropriate colors of card stock for the boxes and then wrapped them up using small strips of the Designer Series Fabric. I attatched "to: from:" tags (made using the "to: from:" stamp in the A Cute Christmas stamp set) to each gift. The last gift has already been ripped open to expose the greeting "have a cute Christmas!"

The Whisper White background on my card was sent through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder and then mounted onto a Blushing Bride card base.

Frosted- CCMC-HM5

This week over at the Create with Connie and Mary Holiday Edition we have been creating using the Angelic Joy, Rejoicing in Christmas, Fireside Christmas and Northern Hearts (hostess) stamp sets and for the Saturday Challenge this week the theme is All the Glitters!

I decided to use the Northern Hearts stamp sets and focus on the snowflakes in the set, because snowflakes are always glittlery! Here is what I came up with, Frosted. I do not use glitter very often, but had fun making my card fit the theme All that Glitters!

I started by stamping all three different snowflakes from the set onto Whisper White card stock using Versa Mark ink and then embossed them using a mixture of half Clear Embossing powder and half Dazzling diamonds. In real life this gives the snowflakes a real glittery look.

The bird and the leaves were punched out using the Two Step Extra Large Bird punch. Then I covered them in Multipurpose TomBow Adhesive and sprinkled the Silver Glass Glitter over them. (The TomBow Adhesive works GREAT to make the Glass Glitter stick to anything!)

The sentiment, from the Curly Cute stamp set, was stamped onto Whisper White card stock and then mounted onto Vellum card stock and given a little dimension using the bone folder.

I added a little White Satin Ribbon to finish the card off!

A Classy Christmas- CCMC-HM4

This week we have been creating using the "Vintage Christmas" suite in the Holiday Mini Catalog. Our Saturday Challenge this week is a double challenge! Part one is using the colors Cherry Cobbler, Soft Suede, Early Espresso, Always Artichoke and Crumb Cake and part two is to make a "one of a kind" (a card that you will probably only make one of!).

I decided to use the Bells and Bough's stamp set and the Deck the Halls Designer Series Paper for my card this week and here is what I came up with, A Classy Christmas! I had fun adding layers and embellishments this card!

I started with a Soft Suede card base and then added a piece of Soft Suede card stock that I sent through my Big Shot with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing folder and then used a Sponge Dauber and Soft Suede ink on it to help the texture pop. Then I added a small piece of Designer Series Paper from the Deck the Halls pack, that I also sponged on, to make a base for main image on my card.

Next I stamped the Poinsettia stamp all over a small piece Water Color paper and colored it in using Cherry Cobbler and Always Artichoke ink and my Blender Pens. Then, after all of that coloring, I covered it up with a piece of Vellum to give it a softer look and mounted it onto a piece of Cherry Cobble card stock.

Next I wheeled the Music Notes Wheel over a piece of Very Vanilla card stock using Early Espresso ink and then sponged Soft Suede on it and crumpled it up to give it more texture. Then that piece was mounted onto the Poinsettia/Vellum piece.

Next I took the large scalloped circle from the Scallop Circles #2 die in Always Artichoke and crumpled it, sponged it and added paper piercings to the scallops. That was mounted on top of the music paper in the center of the card.

Then for the main image on the card, I stamped the Bells images onto Water Color paper using Black StazOn and then colored it in using my Blender pens and the Always Artichoke, Cherry Cobbler, Soft Suede and Early Espresso ink. Then I punched it out using the 2 1/2" Circle punch and added some Champagne Glass Glitter to the edges using Multi-Purpose Tombow glue. That piece was mounted to the scalloped circle and the sentiment was cut out and mounted to the image.

I finished off the card by adding a few Crumb Cake brads.

I absolutely LOVE the way this came out, but I do not think this will be our Christmas card this year....maybe a simpler version of it though! :)

Simple and Elegant Ornamet

Here is a simple but elegant Christmas card I made. The colors are Real Red, Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla.

The ornament is from stamp set is Tree Trimmings and the sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes which are both in the catalog. The texture on the card comes from the impressions folder Petals-A-Plenty which is in the Holiday Mini. If you want to get this folder, you only have a few weeks to get it as the Holiday Mini catalog ends January 4! I finished off the card by tying a piece of the 5/8" Grosgrain Chocolate Chip ribbon into a bow and put it on the card with glue dots.

Red Eyelet Berries- CAS38

Here is my card for this week's CAS (clean and simple) challenge over at Splitcoast. It was a Ways to Use it challenge and you have to use brads or eyelets. I don't use eyelets very often, so I used them.

The leafs on the card were sponged on using Old Olive ink with a negative of the Stampin' Up! Little Leaves Sizzlits die as the template. I then added the red eyelets as berries on the leaves using my Crop-a-Dile.

Here is a close up of the main image. The sentiment came from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set and the bow was made using White Taffeta ribbon.

A Beary Cristmas

Here are a few Christmas cards using the Under the Stars stamp set. This bear is so fun to make do different things.

I used a few different stamp sets to accessorize the bear with on this first card. The paper is from last years DSP Christmas pack.

In this second picture, you can tell that the bears hat as liquid applique on it to give it some depth.

The second card also uses multiple stamp sets to accessorize the bear with. Isn't he cute? Looks like he got a good tree to take home and decorate!

Magic Reindeer Food

If you have little ones that like to make sure Santa is going to stop by on Christmas Eve, here is a little treat that will help guide his Reindeer to your house.

Magic Reindeer Food Mix:
-Oats
-Red Sugar Crystals

Combine both ingredients in cellophane bag, add topper, add a cute poem and decorate!
(The poem I used is a combination of one I found on Splitcoast and my own rhyming!!)

Snowman Soup

Here is a fun simple treat to make to give to your friends and family this Holiday season, it's Snowman Soup!

Soup Contents:

-Hot Cocoa Packet
-Little baggie of mini marshmallows
-Mini candy cane
-A Hershey's Kiss

Put all the Soup ingredients into a cellophane bag, add a topper, add a cute saying and decorate!

This is the saying that I used. I got it from someone at Splicoast but I left out a line and maybe changed a few words.

First $5 Firday Night Stamping!

I decided I needed to start another stamping night for people that are not in my club, and don't want to place an order every month or even come to the meeting every month, so I started $5 Friday Night Stamping! I am going to do this once a month and we are going to make 2 cards for $5. I recently had my first one and I think it went well. Here are the cards that we made.

The first one is a pretty simple birthday card. The stamp sets used was Fabulous Flower and Happy Everything. The color's used were Elegant Eggplant, Taken with Teal, Old Olive and Whisper White. I used the scallop edge punch to scallop the bottom the the Taken with Teal paper and the ribbon used was the 5/8" Old Olive Grosgrain.

The second card we made was a little Christmas card that had a Rub On on it. Through November 30, Stampin' Up! is offering 20% off all their Rub On's if you spend $20.

This card measures 4" X 4". The colors are Riding Hood Red and Whisper White. The Noel stamp used to make the back ground is from the Many Merry Messages stamp set. The flower image in the middle is from the Hidden Garden Run Ons. The Ribbon used is Riding Hood Red 5/8" Striped Grosgrain. For a little added bling there are some Dazzling Diamonds in the middle of the flower adhered with Crystal Effects.

November Club Cards

Here are the cards that we made this month for my club.

The first card features the Cracked Glass Technique. You do this by "smooshing" Versa Mark ink all over your stamped image and then sprinkling Glassy Glaze Enamel over that and then embossing it. You do this three times, so you have three layers of Glassy Glaze Enamel on to your stamped image. You then put your paper you just embossed into the freezer for about 5 mins. When you take it out you just crack the "glass" by bending the image in a few different directions. Here is a close up of the crack glass.

The card stock that I used to make this card were Really Rust, Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla. I used Really Rust, Chocolate Chip, Sage Shadow and More Mustard classic ink to stamp the images and Glassy Glaze Enamel and Versa Mark to make the "glass". Other accessories I used were 5/8" Grosgrain Chocolate Chip ribbon, Linen Thread, the Scallop Edge punch, the 1 3/8", 1 1/4" and the 1/16" circle punches. To make the background image I used multiple stamp sets, they include Itty Bitty Backgrounds (little dots), Priceless (little flower), and Season of Friendship (the leaves) and the sentiment is from the Hostess set called Best Yet.

((You may recognize this next card from an earlier post on my blog, this is the card I submitted for the soshelli.com creative challenge, but I liked it so much I wanted to share it with my club!))

This was the Thanksgiving card that we made. The main image (the Pumpkin) is punch art. It is made by punching out five Wide Ovals sponging around them and gluing them together in a pumpkin shape.

The card stock I used for this card is Very Vanilla, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Pumpkin Pie (how appropriate! :) ) and So Saffron. The pumpkins stem is made with a little piece of 5/8" Chocolate Chip Grosgrain ribbon folded in half. The Vines are made from the 3/4" and the 1/2" circle punch punched out and then cut into a spiral shape. The "hay" is the So Saffron paper cut into thin strips and then crumpled up.

There wasn't much stamping on this card, but the stamp sets I used were Celebrate Everything (Celebrate) and Fundamental Phrases (thanks). I did use the Stamp-a-ma-jig to line up the two words.

The last card that we made was a simple Christmas card. It seems like Christmas is so far away, but it will be here before we know it!

The paper used for this card is Chocolate Chip, Riding Hood Red, Whisper White and Holiday Treasures DSP. The ribbon is the 5/8" Chocolate Chip Grosgrain. The cute little reindeer is from the A Holly, Jolly Christmas stamp set.

I stamped the reindeer in Chocolate Chip Craft ink and then clear embossed it. Then I colored in the nose and put a drop of Crystal effects on his nose! I think you can tell which reindeer he is!

Christmas Cards in September?

Yep, that is right, Christmas Cards in September. A customer of mine is hosting a small workshop on Sunday and she wanted to do Christmas cards, so that is what we are doing! I defiantly wasn't in the mood for Christmas, but once I got going, it was fun. She said she wanted to do a "pop-up" card. So I did two different variations of a "pop-up" card. The first one is called a "free standing pop-up" card. The picture might me hard to tell, but the Riding Hood Red tag thing in the middle is "popping up" from the base of the card. This card is neat, because is does fold flat and fit into a standard size envelope. I added a few die cut snowflakes I made using the Big Shot to give it a little more 3-d.

The second "pop-up" card is this one. I made the front of this card plane, because the inside is exciting! The second picture of it shows the "pop-up" part from the side.The size of this card is 6 1/2" X 3 1/4".

This next card is made from a flower set! It is from the Fabulous Flower Stamp Set. I stamped the "flower" and then cut around the edge of it and then punched out the middle the make the wreath shape. Then I added the berries and the five petal flower punch to finish it off. I created the Close to Cocoa background by scoring it and then sponging over it.

The last card we are doing at her workshop is very simple, using very few supplies and colors, but striking at the same time. I CASED it from LateBlossom on Splitcoast Stampers (SCS). The background is done by sponging. I really like this card! Thanks LateBlossom for the inspiration!
