Old School Love You- CCCCact51, SSC172

When I saw Stacey's Curtain Call Color Challenge today, So Saffron, Marina Mist, Whisper White, Basic Black and Crumb Cake, I instantly wanted to play! Then when I was poking around blog world I found a challenge blog, new to me, called Stamping 411 and this week they have a simple sketch. So I decided to combine the two and make a card!

Here is what I came up with, Old School Love You. I LOVE water coloring and this stamp set, Greeting Card Kids, is perfect for it!

I stamped the girl using Black StazOn onto Water Color paper and then used my Blender pens and the appropriate colors to color her in. I hand cut the individual letters from the designer series paper pack Newsprint and arranged them on the Water Color paper.

I used the Cracked Glass Technique on the main image to give it more of an "Old School" look.

I added black Satin ribbon, a Crumb Cake button and a little Linen Thread to finish it off!

Trio of Potted Flowers- CCCCact46

Stacey has some fresh fun colors this week for her Curtain Call Color Challenge Act 46 they are Wild Wasabi, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White, Peach Parfait and Poppy Parade. I just love the inspiration picture this week...poppies!

Here is what I came up with, a trio of potted flowers! The image is from the retired stamp set Wagon Full of Fun and I stamped it onto Water Color paper using Black StazOn and the making technique for there to be three potted flowers together. I colored them in using the markers from this weeks colors and then my blender pen to blend and add shadows.

I mounted the main image onto a piece of Peach Parfait card stock and then that on to a piece of card stock I sent through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka-Dots embossing folder added the ribbon, Jumbo Brads and the sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp set and it was done!

Happy Together- CCCCact42

Stacey has another great set of colors this week for her Curtain Call Color Challenge! The colors are Pear Pizazz, Peach Parfait, Early Espresso and Very Vanilla. All of the colors she picked (except Very Vanilla) are new colors and it was my first time really playing with them!
Here is what I came up with! It uses the stamp set Happy Together. I stamped the birds onto Very Vanilla card stock using Early Espresso classic ink and then colored them in using the Peach Parfait marker. I stamped the "leaf" image from the stamp set onto the Early Espresso card base using Early Espresso classic ink just above the image panel in a line going across the card (very hard to see in the picture).

I added some Pear Pizazz grass for them to walk on, a Early Espresso Satin bow, a cute little button and a linen thread bow (totally Stacey style! :) ) to finish it off!

Here is a close up of the ribbon and button treatment and better look at the "leaf" images stamped on the Early Espresso card stock.

Bride and Groom Owl in a Love Nest- CCCCact38

Stacey has some bright colors this week for the Curtain Call Color Challenge Act 38! They are Certainly Celery, Regal Rose, Very Vanilla, Pumpkin Pie and Rich Razzleberry. I needed to make make my sister and her future husband a wedding card and I knew it wasn't going to be a traditional wedding card, because they are not too traditional, so I thought these color may work, and they did!

Here is what I came up with, a bride and a groom owl sitting in their love nest. I had a lot of fun putting this card together that uses the new Two-Step Owl Extra-Large punch. The love nest is made using the Heart to Heart Extra-Large punch and Certainly Celery card stock that was sponged around the edges.

I punched out the owls using the appropriate card stocks for this weeks colors and sponged around the edges of all the pieces. Then I mis-matched the owls colors and put them together. I added a few of the new Pearls from Stampin' Up! to the bride owl's head and a little Vellum Veil. The groom owl got a Rich Razzleberry bow tie.

The Very Vanilla card base was sent through the Big Shot with the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder to give it some texture and some "fancy wedding feel". The sentiments come from the stamp set Fundamental Phrases and are stamped in Rich Razzleberry.

Birthday Candles-CCCCact37

It was Stacey's birthday week over at the Curtain Call Color Challenge this week! And did she have some fun colors; Temping Turquoise, Barley Banana, Whisper White, Chocolate Chip and Melon Mambo. I knew I wanted to make a birthday card for Stacey this week, so that is what I did!

Here is what I made, a card full of birthday candles! I cut my "candles" from the Temping Turquoise, Chocolate Chip and Melon Mambo card stocks and then added the designs by using the coordinating colored inks and a a sponge. I popped every-other one up using dimentionals.

The Barley Banana flames are made using the wing from the Two Step Bird punch and then Vanilla Shimmer Spray and Iridescent Ice embossing powder to make then sparkle. I finished off the card by dying the new 5/8" Whisper White grosgrain ribbon Melon Mambo and adding the sentiments that were punched out using the Medium Jewelry Tag punch.

Patriotic Stars and Stripes- CCCCact36

I have not done a Curtain Call Color Challenge in a while, so I decided I needed to do it this week! I love them and miss it when I do not do one! This week Stacey has a great inspiration photo and colors for this up coming weekend here in the U.S....Independence day!

Here is what I came up with! A bold patriotic card! I started with a Crumb Cake (Kraft) card stock base and then stamped the retired Canvas background in Crumb Cake ink on it. Then I "dirtied" it up a bit with a sponge dauber and Crumb Cake ink. Then I made my textured Real Red and Whisper White stripes and "dirtied" them up a bit with the Crumb Cake ink. I then punched out three circles of Crumb Cake card stock and stamped and "dirtied" them too. Then I added the Night of Navy stars to the circles using brads. I used the Rough Type Alphabet to stamp "USA" in Night of Navy ink on Whisper White card stock.

I finished off the card by curling the corners of the striped panel up and distressing the whole card just a little.

Stacy's Fun and Bright Bridal Shower Invites- CCCCact32

Stacey's Curtain Call Color Challenge for this week is a fun bright color combination inspired by this party decoration. The colors are Regal Rose, Summer Sun, Whisper White, Apricot Appeal, and Rose Red. These were the perfect color scheme for my sisters bridal shower invitations, so that is what I made.

I used the Circle Circus stamp set to make these invitations for the party. I used the ink colors from this week to stamp the images in a random pattern in Whisper White card stock and then mounted it to the background card stock Rose Red. The information stamp is from the Introducing stamp set. I used the Rose Red Stampin' Write marker to fill in all of the information.
Here are a few of the coordinating name tags that I made for everyone who attends the shower to wear. The subtitles of the attendees are from the stamp set Wonderful Favorites.

I hope my sister likes them and I am looking forward to the shower in a few weeks!

Flowery Leaves- CCCCact31

Got some time to stamp! Yeah! So I went over to Stacey's Stamping Stage and saw her Curtain Call Color Challenge Act 31 inspiration. What different colors to work with, Almost Amethyst, Whisper White, Pretty in Pink, Night of Navy and Garden Green. I wasn't real sure what I wanted to do with them, but as I got the colors out, my card just kind of came together!

Here is what I cam up with and I really like it! I punched out the leaves using the Extra Large Two--Step Bird punch with the Garden Green card stock. Then I glued them on to the Night of Navy card stock in a random pattern. Next I used the new Itty Bitty Shapes punch pack from the Summer Mini to punch the flowers out using the Pretty in Pink and the Almost Amethyst card stocks and then glued them to the leaves. I used the retired Messages for Mom stamp for the greeting stamped in Night of Navy ink.

Then....I added the butterfly...what do you think? Do you like the card with or without the butterfly? I couldn't decide, so I uploaded them both! :)

Baby Blue Duck-CCCCact29

I have missed a week or two of doing Stacey's Curtain Call Color Challenges and I have missed them! This week she has this fun color combo, Summer Sun, Bordering Blue, Whisper White (I used Very Vanilla instead...) and Tangerine Tango. What a fun color combo to work with! Go try it for yourself!

I need a baby boy card for friends that recently had a little boy, so that is where I went with this card! I started with texturizing the Bordering Blue card stock (I haven't ever used this color that much, but now that I did use it, I really like it!) squares using the Perfect Polka Dots and Square Lattice embossing folders and then just a piece of Textured card stock. I placed them in a square and then used my sewing machine to make a paper "blanket". I then took a piece of satin Very Vanilla ribbon and tied it around the "blanket" and mounted it onto a 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" piece of Very Vanilla card stock and added a paper button to the middle of the ribbon knot.

The cute duck is from the retired stamp set Wagon Full of Fun and was stamped using black StazOn onto watercolor paper. I then took my markers and highlighted him with the appropriate color from this week then took my Aqua painter pen and colored him it.

The word "baby" was die cut using the Timeless Type Alphabet Jr. Sizzilts die and the Big Shot. I mounted the letters on the card using Stampin' Dimentionals to make it pop off the card a little bit.

Rose Butterflies and Annie's Butterfies- CCCCact28

Time for another Curtain Call Color Challenge from Stacey! This week she was inspired by this photo of velvet ribbon. The colors are Rose Red, Whisper White, Kraft and Not Quite Navy.

I had my 10 year old "color challenge" partner again, so we have two cards for you to look at again! :)


First we have my card. Pretty simple. I stamped the rose image from the Elements of Style stamp set using Sahara Sand (I use it for Kraft colored ink) onto Whisper White card stock. Then I cut it into 4 pieces and mounted it onto a piece of Not Quite Navy card stock. Then I die cut the big butterflie using the Beautiful Butterflies die and my big shot with Rose Red card stock. The small butterflies were die cut using the butterfly sizzlit die. I stamped the butterflies using the Rose Red classic ink and the Elements of style rose image.






Next we have Annie's card. Again she designed and made her card 100% by herself! She used the Beautiful Butterfly die on her card too! She die cut the Rose Red and the Not Quite Navy card stocks and adhered them to the Kraft card base.

She added a piece of Whisper White card stock to the inside of the card and stamped a butterfly from the Flight of the Butterfly stamp set using Not Quite Navy ink.

What a great card for any occasion!

Girly Flower Lines and Annie's Flower- CCCCact27

It's time for another Curtain Call Color Challenge with Stacey! She has picked some fun colors from this weeks inspiration photo of these flowers. They are Melon Mambo, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White and Certainly Celery.

I was watching my friend Lou's 10 year old daughter, Annie, today and she wanted to play along too, so we both made cards for you to look at!

First we have mine. I had fun with this card! I just kept adding things to it and then had to stop myself before this card got too out of control! :) But I like the end result!

I used the hostess level 3 stamp set Flower Lines for the flower images. I stamped them onto watercolor paper using Basic Black StazOn and then water colored them using Aqua Painter pens and Blender pens withe the colors for this week. I then mounted it onto a piece of Certainly Celery card stock. I took a piece of vellum and ran it through the Big Shot using my Perfect Dots embossing folder and then curled up the corners using my bone folder. I put the vellum onto the Pink Pirouette card stock, took a piece of Pink Pirouette 1 1/4' ribbon tied it around the card, added a few embellishments and and sentiment and called it done! My card measures 3 1/4" x 6 1/2" .

Next we have Annie's card! This was her first color challenge and she did a fantastic job! (And I think she is hooked on color challenges now!)

She designed and made this card 100% all by herself. She used the 5 Petal Flower punch to make the flower, the Word Window to make the stem and the Star punch to make the leafs. The flower and the free drawn and cut out clouds are both popped up on dimensionals.

She even decorated the inside with a few Word Window's punched out in the coordinating card stocks!

I think I found myself a new color challenge partner! :)

Gray Bird Card Kit- CCCCact26

It's time for another Curtain Call Color Challenge! This week Stacey has some more fun colors to work with! They are Whisper White, Basic Gray, Going Gray and Crushed Curry. I was worried when I saw Crushed Curry, because it is not a color I have found easy to use. But to my surprise, it works very well with both the gray's and the white!

Here is what I came up with! A cute little card kit ready to be used. I decorated the thin tin using the colors for this week and a few punches from the Occasions Mini catalog. I used my Big Shot and the Naturally Serif Sizzlit alphabet die to create the letters on the tin.

Once you untie the white Satin ribbon bow that is tied around the thin tin you will find all the supplies you need to make six sets of 3"x3" cards. You can choose to make them exactly like I did or choose to design your own cards!

I think this would be a great little gift to give someone for any occasion!

Bright Layered Flowers- CCCCact25 and PPA37

Stacey has some BRIGHT colors this week for her Curtain Call Color Challenge Act 25! All the colors are from the Bold Brights color family! They are Only Orange, Green Galore, Yoyo Yellow, Pixie Pink and Whisper White. Be sure to check out her blog and give these colors a go...she also has a giveaway this week! And over at Pals Paper Arts their challenge this week is a theme challenge to use flowers! I thought these two challenges would go great together!

Here is what I came up with! I knew I had to keep the layout simple with the bold bright colors! So I took the Flower Layers die and die cut flowers using my Big Shot, layered them together, bent the petals up a bit, to give the card dimension, and added a White Jumbo brad to the middle! The Green Galore leaves are made using the Large Oval punch.

The words were stamped into Whisper White card stock and then cut out and glue dotted onto the Whisper White card stock that was sent through the Big shot with the Perfect Polka Dots Texture Impressions Folder. (My card measures 4 1/4" X 4 1/4").

Simple Stars- CCCCact24

Stacey over at Stacey's Stamping Stage has another Curtain Call Color Challenge this week. The colors are So Saffron, Kraft, Garden Green, Tempting Turquoise and Whisper White.

When I got these colors out I thought these colors would make a great boy-ish card, so I went with that theme to come up with my simple card.

I punched out stars using the Large Star punch with So Saffron, Garden Green and Temping Turquoise card stocks. I then glued them on the the Kraft card base and dotted around them with my White Gel Pen.

I stamped the "Happy Birthday" from the It's Your Birthday stamp set over and over again using Sahara Sand classic ink on to the Kraft card base. I added the simple white ribbon at the top and called it good!

Very simple today, but sometimes simple is good!

Distressed So Very Sorry- CCCCact23

Unfortunately I need a sympathy card this week for a sudden death in my family. I saw Stacey's colors for her Curtain Call Color Challenge this week and knew I could make them work for a sympathy card. The colors are Kraft, Whisper White, Pretty in Pink and Basic Black. (I used Very Vanilla instead of Whisper White...hope that is ok!)

Here is what I came up with. I used a sneak peak stamp set from the Summer Mini catalog called Elements of Style as the main image on the card and stamped it using Black StazOn onto watercolor paper. I then used my Pretty in Pink marker to highlight the flowers and then went over them with my Aqua Painter. I then colored in the leaves and added depth to the flowers and the paper using my Aqua Painter and Sahara Sand ink (which I consider to be the Kraft colored ink).



Next I distressed the edges of the all the card stock on the card by using Sahara Sand ink, the distressing tool and by curling back some of the card stock.

I stamped the the sentiment "so very sorry" from the stamp set Three Little Words onto a piece of watercolor paper that I punched out using the Designer Label punch and then distressed it as well. I added a small bow of Very Vanilla Taffeta ribbon, a half pearl from the Pretties Kit and a very light misting of Champagne Mist shimmer spray to the image to finish the card off.

I love the way it came out and I hope it brings a little comfort to my Aunt.
