sweet raspberry challenge- Board Fish

This week I decided to combine two challenges into one, Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #11 and Dawn's Raspberry Suite Week 2 Color Challenge (brown, teal, white and celery).

Here is what I came up with. I am not sure if I like it all that much, it looks a little off, but I decided to upload it anyways. I used the new Just Beachy stamp set that is in the Occasions Mini Catalog for the image. The Chocolate Chip card stock base is embossed with the Big Shot and the small Dots die. I used the Scallop Edge punch for the scallop of Taken with Teal paper and the ribbon is from the Sale-A-Bration ribbon pack.

I thought the surf board on top of the car needed a little something else, so I added a fish! I put Crystal Effects on him, so he would look like he was wet and I also put a dripping trail of water flying off of him towards the back of the car...it is hard to see in the picture.

Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge #61- cute card and a gift all in one

(You can tell I am off today and in my craft room, because this is going to be post #2 today!)

As I was looking around blogs I saw that over at Taylored Expressions there was a sketch. I thought this would be the perfect time to use my new Taylored Expressions stamp set's Branching Out and Branching Out Coordinates.

So here is what I did. (As you can see I flipped the sketch 90 degrees to the right.) I had a lot of fun putting this card together. I started with the flowers (Kiwi Kiss-ish, Pixie Pink-ish and Kraft-ish) and then based the colors for the rest of the card off of them.

I used my big shot and the Large and Small Dots texture plates to add a little texture to the Close to Cocoa and the Baja Breeze card stock.

I decided to put a sheet of clear transparency over my stamped image, just to give the card one more element. Just before I taped the stamped image and the flower embellishment to the rest of the card I had an "ahh-haa moment", and this is what I did......

I made the stamped image and the flower embellishment a magnet! So when the recipient gets this card, she can take the image off the card and put it on her fridge! What do you think? A cute card and a gift all in one!

Here is one last picture of the branch and the little bird house!

kwerner design Color Inspiration #47- big shot hi

I saw Kristina's color inspiration this week on her blog and liked the colors, Chocolate Chip, Tangerine Tango, So Saffron and Whisper White, so I made a card.

Here is what I made. It is kind of different for me, but it just kind of fell into place. There is no stamping on it at all, but a lot of Big Shot. I used the Flower Layers die, the Serif Essentials Alphabet die and the Weave texture plate.

In this picture, you can see the Weave texture on the Whisper White card stock. The DSP I just I found in my scrap box. The button is from the Fresh Favorites 2 button pack from SU.

Here you can see that I put the "H" and the "I" on dimensionals to pop it off the card a little bit.

Thanks for looking, have a great weekend!

Jewelry Color Inspiration #29- Sail Boat for a Boy

The other day I found Stacey's Stamping Stage blog and while I was looking around I found her Jewelry Color Inspiration #29 (She finds neat jewelry on-line and then posts a picture it of once a week and then you have to make a card using the colors that are in the jewelry...how neat!) So I decided to give it a try.

Her colors this week were Real Red, Bashful Blue, Barely Banana and Whisper White. As soon as I saw these colors I thought of a sail boat, so that is what I did.

Here is my sail boat! I think it came out kind of cute. When I added the "boy" stamp from Everything Baby (retired), it made me think of a baby card, but I don't think it is necessarily just a baby card, it could be used for any young boy!

I used my Big Shot and a few embossing folders (Large Dots and Squares) to give the Bashful Blue card stock some texture. I sewed around all the edges of the card with my sewing machine as well as the sail and the boat.

I finished off the card by adding a few buttons in the same color theme to the bottom right of the card.

I had fun with this color inspiration, so I think I am going to do it again next week!

sweet sunday sketch challenge #10- Spring Duck

Here is Karen's sweet sunday sketch challenge for this week. I always have so much fun with her sketches! Go check out her blog for yourself! These color also match Dawn's Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #1, . (I didn't even know it untill after I had posted!)

Here is what I came up with this week. It is a Spring Duck! Isn't this Duck so cute? It is from the Wagon Full of Fun stamp set that is in the Occasions Mini catalog. I also used my new Eyelet Border punch. I think this punch will be a good addition to my punches.

The colors in this card (Summer Sun, Pumpkin Pie, Regal Rose, Basic Black) are not normal colors for me, but they just kind of fell into place as I was making the card and I like the way it came out...very bright and spring-y!

I had fun water coloring the duck on the water color paper. I really like water coloring on the water color paper, because it is so forgiving and you can blend your colors so much better than on normal card stock.

Thanks for looking and have a great week!

Bookmark's

About a month ago one of my stamping groups and I were talking and the subject bookmarks came up and I said "we could probably do a whole class on just bookmarks" and they all said "we should", so, last night we had a bookmark class and made four different kinds.

This first one is pretty simple. It just fits over the corner of your page.

The second one was requested by one of my club members. She saw it in the catalog (pg 44) and wanted to make it, so we did. This stamp set works great for bookmarks, because it is tall.

The third one we made is this cute owl face. It was made using the Top Notes Bigz die, Big Shot and some punches. The Really Rust Top Note was folded in half and then the Chocolate Chip Top Note was cut in half and then glued to the Really Rust. There are magnets inside of the Really Rust Top Note, so it will stay on your page.

The fourth and final bookmark we made was this one. It was made using Flower Layers die, Big Shot, some DSP, ribbon and a button. I glued the DSP onto the chipboard before I sent it though the Big Shot. The big Shot is great for cutting chipboard! I glued all the layers on using the Tombow glue, the best glue for chipboard, I think!

Thanks for looking, have a great weekend!

March $5 Friday

Here are this month's $5 Friday cards.

The first card we did is this simple cupcake card made using the Stampin' Up! Big Bold Cupcakes sizzlits dies and the Big Shot.

The Colors are Chocolate Chip, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White and Kraft. The sentiment stamp on the bottom right is from the stamp set On Your Birthday. The Chocolate Chip flower button is from the Button Latte button pack and the pink button is from a button pack that is now retired.

In this close up you can see I used the Weave texturz plate from the Texture Plates Kit #4 (I love all the texturz plates!!) from SU on the Pink Pirouette paper. I also used dimentionals on the white "frosting" to make it pop off the card a little bit.

The second card we did was this card made using the Pretty Amazing stamp set. I saw a card very very similar to this one on Splitcoast stampers and I liked it so much, I decided to do it for one of the cards.

The colors on this card are Old Olive, Not Quite Navy, Baja Breeze, Whisper White and Chocolate Chip. The DSP is from the Urban Garden paper pack. The ribbon is the Taffeta in Chocolate Chip and the flowers are from the Flower Fusion Too (felt flowers) kit. I used silver brads to mount the flowers on the paper. The sentiment is from the Fresh Cuts stamp set.

Have a great week!

sweet sunday sketch challenge #9- Chocolate Bella Blossom

It's Sunday and that means it time for another Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge from Karen. Here is her sketch this week (check out her blog and see her cute card she made this week!) I couldn't decide what colors to make my flower, so I was going thought some old DSP and found this, so my colors are Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla!

Here is my card. It uses the old Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla DSP, The Bella Blossoms stamp set (on the dormant list), some Chocolate Chip 5/8" grosgrain ribbon, Chocolate Chip ink and some sewing.

Here is a close up of the bow I tied. I usually use ribbon on my cards, but I never tie a cute bow, but I saw how good Karen's looked, so I decided to give it a try on this card and I think it fits this card well!

sweet sunday sketch challenge #8- Happy Blue Bird

I had time this week to Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge this week. Here is her sketch.

Here is what I came up with, a blue bird singing atop a green hill...happiness. I have seen other people doing this "hill" thing with paper and sponging and so I decided to try it and I like the way it came out a lot!

The Stamp set's I used for this card are A Little Birdie Told Me and Warm Words. The colors are Old Olive, Basic Black, Whisper White and Brilliant Blue. The ribbon is the Whisper White Organza Ribbon and the buttons came from Bold Bright button assortment that is retired. I used the Stampin' Up! Backgrounds 1 Texture plate to emboss the Old Olive card base and the Scallop Edge punch to scallop the Whisper White card stock that is peaking out from behind the main image.

Here is a close up of the Ribbon and the Buttons. You can also see that I pierced the Basic Black card stock.

March Club

It's time for March Club already! This month I had a guest demonstrator (my sister) prepare and demonstrate one of the cards that everyone made, you will see it down further on this post!

The first card we made is this Crimped Envelope Pocket Card that uses the Sale-A-Bration stamp set Polka Dot Punches and the Sale-A-Bration Ribbon Bundle So Saffron ribbon. (You can find the tutorial on how to make a Crimped Envelope Pocket card on Splitcoaststampers by clicking here). The colors on this card are Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue, So Saffron and Whisper White.

This stamp set coordinates perfectly with t
he Scallop Circle and 5-Petal Flower punches, so I used them to punch out the embellishments on the bottom right of the card. I also used the 3/4" circle punch and the Circle Scissor Plus to get the other circles on the card. I added a small Whisper White button, from the Button Latte Designer Buttons pack, and a small piece of Whisper White ribbon to finish off the outside of the card. When you take the top off the card, this is what is inside. I used the Scallop edge punch on the Certainly Celery card stock to give it some character.

The next card uses the Inspired by Nature stamp set that is on the Dormant List. The flower looks like it was water colored onto the paper and I did this by coloring directly on the stamp with the appropriate markers (Summer Sun, Old Olive and Pink Passion), "huffing" the stamp, stamping it onto the Water Color paper and then Aqua painting the stamped image on the paper to make it blend better. I framed it with Basic Black card stock and adhered it to the rest of the card.

The Kraft card stock was run through the Big Shot with the Stampin' Up! Backgrounds 1 texturz plate and then I added three black brads at the bottom of the card to finish it off.

The last card we made was the one my sister prepared. It uses the Trendy Tree's Stamp set, 5/8" Grosgrain Regal Rose ribbon, Chocolate Chip, Regal Rose, Old Olive and Whisper White card stock, a Clear Transparency sheet and the Photo Corners punch.

This second picture shows that she put the Clear Transparency sheet over the Whisper Whit card stock that she stamped the Trendy Tree's on. This is such a cute stamp set and it has so much potential!

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a great week!

Vegas Valentine's Wedding

Here is a card that I made for a family friend that got married in Las Veags on Valentines Day without anyone really knowing, including the Bride, until 2 days before! They are having their reception soon, so I thought I should get a card ready to go.

I wanted to make a card that was unique but not too cheesy but also one that went along with the theme of Las Vegas, since after all, that is where they were married! I think my card fits all my "requirements" very well and I like the way it came out.

The colors are Basic Grey, Basic Black, Whisper White and Real Red. I used my Heart to Heart punch to punch all the hearts out. The "congratulations" is stamped in White Staz On and the handle on the slot machine really moves up and down! I even put a piece of clear transparency over the "screen" of the slot machine as you can see in this picture.

Congratulation "R" and "K"!

Cute Box'O'Ribbon

Look at this cute box full of all sorts (over 25!!) of different SU! ribbons! I made it for my sister who recently signed up to be a demonstrator, she is now in my downline :)!

I got the box tutorial and the ribbon idea from The Squareheaded Stamper's Blog. Go look at all her cool things she makes!

This box was fun and pretty easy to make. It reminds me of an Animal Cracker box. The top of the box flips open and latches closed with magnets. I embellished the box with a few fun buttons from the Button Bouquet designer buttons and a brad from the Flower designer brads from SU!. I smooshed the brad in Chocolate Chip craft ink to give it the darker highlights.

The ribbons inside are wrapped around the Round Tab punch from SU! that I punched out and then didn't fold in half, it works great to hold the ribbons neatly!
