sweet sunday sketch challenge #2

As I was looking at blogs tonight I came across Karen's Blog "the sweetest thing" and saw that she had a sketch challenge, so I decided to do it!

So the sketch was this....

And I decided to use the Wild About You stamp set, the 1" circle punch, the scallop punch, some old black Organdy ribbon from SU, Basic Black, Kraft, Really Rust and Whisper White Card Stock and Old Olive, Really Rust, More Mustard, Basic Grey and Basic Black ink, and this is what I came up with...

(does this picture look weird color to you??)

Here is a close up view from the side of the card showing the Organdy ribbon and the dimensionals I used to pop the animals off the Basic Black card stock to give it some depth.

Thanks for looking!

(I have really been enjoying doing different challenges lately, they are fun!!)

Here s a simple birthday card that I sent to a friend recently.

It uses the Crazy for Cupcakes stamp set from SU. The colors are Real Red and Chocolate Chip and Whisper White. The DSP is from the Chocolate Chip prints pack and the ribbon is the 5/8" Grosgrain in Chocolate Chip. The greeting, from Upsy Daisy, is stamped in Basic black.

The cupcakes are "frosted" with Liquid Applique to make them look extra yummy!

Flowering Tree's

I decided to take another challenge! This time it was on Splitcoast stampers and it was the Inspiration Challenge.

The inspiration for this week was the Lang Calendars. There are sooo many calendars to choose from, but I decided to pick a picture from the "Cows Cows Cows" calendar (if you go to that link and then click on "more images" you can see all the pictures for that specific calendar. The one I used is in the second column and then the third one down) I saw this picture and it reminded me of the Three Tree's Stamp set from SU, that is retired, so I used it.

This card is a little different for me (well, except for the Chocolate Chip!), but I think it turned out ok. The colors in this card are, Old Olive and Always Artichoke sponged for the grass, Rose Red and Pink Passion sponged for the trees, Pink Passion and Lavender Lace stamped with the flower stamp, and Chocolate Chip for the ribbon and the tree trunks.

Here is a close up of the card showing the flowers a little better.

Thanks and have a great day!

All inked up!

Here is another new addition to my stamping room (thanks to my mom and dad for Christmas). It is a Wall Unit Plus ink storage unit from www.suink.net. It holds all my Classic ink pads, markers and re-inkers (including in colors) from SU. I have it sitting on my desk, but you can order it with mounting brackets to mount to your wall. What a great way to have all your ink-y things together and well organized! I really like it!

Here is a close up.

Sew new!

This is one of my new craft room additions! It's a Brother Lightweight Computerized Sewing Machine! It has 40 buit-in stitches and 77 stitch functions. It is super easy to use and super easy to switch to the different stitches. I am still learning, but I like it a lot already!

(Stay posted for projects that have stitching on them!)

color inspiration #39

I decided I would do the color inspiration from kwernerdesign.com this week, since I have time! The colors are not my normal colors (Basic Black, Real Red, So saffron, Whisper White and Green Galore), but I managed to make up a cute card using them.

I used Tart and Tangy stamp set and all the colors mentions above to stamp the fruit in. The greeting, from Happiness Always stamp set, was stamped in Versa Mark and then embossed with white embossing powder. I used the 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" square punches to punch out the individual fruits and then I used dimensionals to pop the squares off the white background. I sewed the black zig-zag using my new sewing machine.

This second picture shows the dimentionals and the black zig-zag sewing closer.

Heart U

Here is my entry for the soshelli.com creative challenge for January, "A Loving Challenge".

This card uses the Parisian Summer DSP and the coordinating colors for that paper pack (Bravo Burgundy, Pink Pirouette, Sahara Sand and Very Vanilla). The card base is Sahara Sand and then layered with Bravo Burgundy and then the DSP. The big scallop circle and the chipboard "U" covered in Sahara Sand card stock are made using the Big Shot. The heart is a chip board heart that came from one of SU!'s On Board Chipboard alphabet packs that I covered with Pink Pirouette card stock. The ribbon is the 1 1/4" Pink Pirouette grosgrain ribbon.

This second picture shows the chipboard layers better.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

3x3 Cup Cake

Last night we had a demonstrator get together shoe box swap. We all brought supplies for everyone to make a card that was 3"x 3" using stamp sets and accessories from the new catalog.

This was the card that I brought. The Stamp set is It's a Loop Thing from the Hostess level three Hand Drawn Bundle. The colors are Kraft, Whisper White, Baja Breeze, Rose Red and Very Vanilla.

This was a fun get together!

January $5 Friday!

This is the first card we did at $5 Friday this month. I really like these colors (Pacific Point, Baja Breeze, Old Olive and Chocolate Chip) together. I think they all complement each other very nicely! The cute little apple is from the Tart and Tangy stamp set and the sentiment is from the Fundamental Phrases stamp set. It is hard to see in the picture, but the Baja Breeze paper is stamped with Baja Breeze ink using the Canvas Background stamp. What a cute and simple card!

The next card we made is this Love (heart) U card. This is my favorite Valentines day card I have made this year by far! It uses the Parisian Summer DSP and the coordinating colors for that paper pack (Bravo Burgundy, Pink Pirouette, Sahara Sand and Very Vanilla). The card base is Sahara Sand and then layered with Bravo Burgundy and then the DSP. The big scallop circle and the chipboard "U" covered in Sahara Sand card stock are made using the Big Shot. The heart is a chip board heart that came from one is SU!'s On Board Chipboard alphabet packs that I covered with Pink Pirouette card stock. The ribbon is the 1 1/4" Pink Pirouette grosgrain ribbon.

This second picture shows the chipboard better.

Have a great day and thanks for looking!

January Club

This is will be our last club before the new catalog comes out next week. I am excited for the new catalog, because it always brings new and exciting things!

Since Valentines Day is just a month away, I thought we should do a few Valentines Day-ish things. Our first project is this cute little Valentines bag. It is made using the Big Shot Top Note Die and a small paper bag (for the inside of the bag). The handle is punched out using the large oval punch and the embellishment is made using the 1 1/4", 1 3/8" and Scallop circle punches. The heart stamp and the DSP is from the level 3 hostess set Holiday Happening Bundle in the current catalog. The ribbon is the 1 1/4" Grosgrain in Pink Pirouette. I made the bag's filling by cutting real thin strips of Real Red card stock and then crumpling them in my hands.

The second project is this 3"x3" Valentine. It uses A Happy Heart stamp set from the Holiday Mini catalog (which goes away January 18, so if you like it order it now!) The color scheme for this card is Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette and Whisper White. We used the Stampin' Write markers to ink the stamp to get the flower to be different color than the stem. The DSP is from the Bella Rose paper pack and the ribbon is the Riding Hood Red Taffeta.
This second picture shows the paper piercing around the edge of the Pink Pirouette DSP and that the flower is made from small little hearts.

Our third project is this no stamping required card! It is made using the Big Shot and a few dies! I was having a hard time coming up with Valentines day cards to make (mainly because I don't have many heart-y, love-y stamps) and I was thinking X's and O's are Valentines Day things and I could cut them out using my Serif Essentials dies and my Big Shot, so I did! And then I thought a cute little white bird may look good, so I cut him out using the Birds And Blooms Sizzlits die and and then glued it all together! It is kind of a different card for me, but I think I like the way it turned out, very simple and quick!

Our fourth and final card for club this month is this Sock Monkey "thanks a bunch" card. The colors in this card are Whisper White, Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel, Chocolate Chip, So Saffron and Ruby Red (for his mouth and butt). I stamped the Sock Monkey in Basic Black and then colored him in using the markers. I then stamped the banana on a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock using Basic Black ink, colored the banana peel using the So Saffron marker and then cut the banana out and glued it to the monkeys hand. I had to add some ribbon (of course it had to to Chocolate Chip) to finish off the card!
